Thumbs down All files lost !

Very disappointed that Ubuntu has managed to lose all my files!
    1. Tried to upgrade to 14.10 and it corrupted
    2. Tried to re-install with 14.04 and was presented with 2 options:
    a) install side by side; or
    b) erase 14.10 and reinstall 14.04

Natural assumption was operating system partion would be wiped and all other partions with files would be saved. This did not happen !

So it wiped everything out – all my data, all my files are gone !
    Not a happy bunny!

Option 2.b) indicates that it will erase ALL the files -- but unfortunately, most folks do not understand that ALL means ALL. The Mint developers changed the warning message so that it more clearly indicates that the entire drive will be erased and reformatted, but Canonical stubbornly refuses to make such a change.

You might be able to recover your previous stuff using Testdisk: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step
    Ubuntu 20.04, Mint 19.10; MS Win10 Pro.
Will not respond to PM requests for support -- use the forums.
