Are you running GS? I still am.

I accidentally booted into 3.18-rc1 this morning. I forgot to purge it.

Like a babe_in_the_woods, I went merrily on my way. Two hours later, my machine started acting janky -- then crashed. That's when I realized I had mistakenly booted into 3.18-rc1, while brewing a pot of coffee. LoL

Luckily, it didn't hard-lock this time. This allowed some useful info to be written to the log files.


Example: '/var/log/apport.log'

Odd one, yes?

Anyway, I'll do some forensics and see what else I discover. I'll report back, if I find anything remarkable.

BTW, I never had a single problem running 3.17.1-generic, yesterday, so the finger points to 3.18-rc1, in my mind.

No, I did not have free time to put that on new install on new machine. I hope one day soon.
That machine works nice with 3.18-rc1... Still no working 999.

I have been running 3.18RC-1 with Systemd continuously since Oct 20th with no noticable glitches. Working perfect. Intel chipset. FYI

That's recent, the latest kernel at kernel.org is 3.17.1 ....

edit. btw I'm not in a hurry since Virtualbox didn't work with any version of 3.17 I've tried, it's likely it doesn't work with this either, 3.16.* is flawless regarding Vbox!

Yes 3.17 had issues with VB, but 3.18 works well since rc1.
