    amount of memory decreasing

    I've noticed that the amount of memory available in Ubuntu 14.04 is decreased for some reason. When I run the command free I see that it says 16304096. I find this weird because it used to be 16304120. After I booted in a older kernel I noticed the value was again increased. It looks like some updates or kernel updates changed the value. Also I have a test laptop running on Ubuntu 14.04 and a virtual machine running Ubuntu 14.04 which does the same.

    Now it is not that big of a deal because the difference is not that great but exactly I wanted to know what causes this? Or is this normal? Will it decrease any more?

    Any help would be appreciated
