    I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 with Amd E-350 Processor x 2 8 GB ram With Installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Lubuntu 14.04.01, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, All with AMDs

    theoretically yes, but to be sure you should run it live (if possible). the components should work but it's hard to say for sure.
    possible issues on laptops - card readers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth camera and touchpad. CPU and GPU are ok.
    Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
    Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
    Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
    User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla
