Does ubuntu or debian accept java programs in its repositories?

Just wondering. I have a program that I have planned out and I think people will really find it useful. But before I get started I want to make sure I use the correct languages to support the community.

If you are talking about the Oracle Java JDK and JRE, no. Oracle no longer authorizes anyone to keep Java in their repos. However webupd8.org has an installer package that handles downloading from Oracle and installing.

OpenJDK, which is the open source reference implementation for Java is usually available and often installed by default in many distros.

If you are talking about aplications written in Java, then yes.

A thing discovered and kept to oneself must be discovered time and again by others. A thing discovered and shared with others need be discovered only the once.
This universe is crazy. I'm going back to my own.
