Failed to start session -- again -- this time no nVidia

"Failed to start session" on 14.04 64-bit has hit again. I was told by Canonical to get rid of my nVidia stuff and use Intel to get rid of video problems. I went out an purchased an Intel i7-4770K processor and a MSI CSM-B85M-P32 motherboard and 8 GB RAM. Fired it up, got rid of nVidia drivers, etc., and still have an inoperable PC because of Failed to start session. I have tried all the tricks listed here and other Ubuntu sites to get this problem solved. One would hope that the gurus in charge of Ubuntu would figure out a way to bypass this error. Does anyone know the root cause of "Failed to start session.?"

It would help if you post the Xorg.0.log to start with....

Thank you for your message. The question is now moot as I did a clean install of 14.04 and now everything is working fine.
