Wifi not working - 14.04 LTS - Broadcom BCM4313

Hi Forum

New to the forum as well as Ubuntu. Installed 14.04 on my Samsung SF310 laptop this morning. Everything went pretty smooth, but I can't get wi-fi to work.
Our home network can be seen by the computer, but it refuses to log on. Searched the forums but haven't been able to find anything that worked.
After install I upgraded the system (apt-get upgrade & apt get dist-upgrade)

I found the Broadcom guide and then ran this:

lspci -nn -d 14e4:

which gave:
Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:4727] (rev 01)

However this particular revision does not appear to be in the list.
Any hint on what to do?

That card uses the Boadcom b43 driver not the WL/Sta one.
you can try going to software center >edit>software sources>Additional drivers tab.
See if it offers you the b43 firmware , if so install it. it sould blacklist wl for you.
If that doesn't work let me know we will have to do it the harder way

Have a broadcom WIFI controller model : Broadcom Corporation BCM43142 802.11b/g/n [14e4:4365] (rev 01)

The wifi is not working. I tried using that additional drivers option in software updates, but it didn't work. I need to fix it. Help. This is my wirelessinfo.txt file attatched.wireless-info.txt

Thanks for your reply, Dave.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is any firmware available in the Additional drivers tab.
It lists the Broadcom driver though, but it seems like it is just showing the driver in use.

Ok got to additional drivers and uninstall the bcmwl-kernel-source

then go to a terminal and instlall b43 drivers with the following commands:

sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer

Reboot and see if it works. let me know if it doesn't we will go from there.

I would love to see the current report, because the "b43" driver CAN NOT work with this card. It is supported by either the native "brcmsmac" (requires no additional firmware for this card) or proprietary "wl" driver (which you already had in the first report).

So my guess is that it is the "brcmsmac" that is automatically loading (obviously) after removing (purging) the "wl" driver, and installing the firmware has absolutely nothing to do with the fix.
