Very slow wifi speeds with RNX-N150PCe

I've used http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833166047 on a Windows PC for quite some time without much of a problem, but network speed are very slow on Ubuntu 14.04. I've tried looking up how to install the ath9k driver, but I've had no luck so far. Here is the output from the 3 commands I see all in post I've looked at.

I don't think the driver is your problem; I think this is:

Do you feel that is accurate? How far are you from the router? Can you adjust how the router sits to try to get better signal strength?

Please check the settings in the router. WPA2-AES is preferred; not any WPA and WPA2 mixed mode and certainly not TKIP. Second, if your router is capable of N speeds, I have better luck with a channel width of 20 MHz in the 2.4 GHz band instead of automatic 20/40 MHz. I also have better luck with a fixed channel, either 1, 6 or 11, rather than automatic channel selection. After making these changes, reboot the router.

Next, I recommend that your regulatory domain be set explicitly. Check yours:

sudo iw reg get

If you get 00, that is a one-size-maybe-fits-all setting. Find yours here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2 Then set it temporarily:

sudo iw reg set IS

Of course, substitute your country code if not Iceland. Set it permanently:

gksudo gedit /etc/default/crda

Use nano or kate or vim if you don't have the text editor gedit.

Change the last line to read:

REGDOMAIN=IS

Proofread carefully, save and close gedit.

Next, I'd set IPv6 to Ignore in Network Manager: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...pv6-ignore.png This example is for ethernet, but you want wireless.

Additionally, you may want to disable the hardware encryption of the driver:

I don't think I'm going to be able to try this tonight (school work), but I definitely will tomorrow. My wifi is NOT encrypted, so does disabling hardware encryption make a difference?

No, software encryption (WEP/WPA/WPA2) is not affected by this

I tried both suggestions, but my download speed is this less than half of what it is on Windows. My ping however is as good/better. Any other ideas?
