Okay, so I just learned my lesson about PPAs and why they're bad. I'll never do it again, I swear.
Prior to upgrading to Trusty, I added the stable PPA for VLC to get the newest version of VLC. I then upgraded to Trusty (from saucy) without removing the ppas. Yes, I know this is stupid. Oh well.
So, here's where I'm having trouble:

So now I know what the problem is - libebml4 and 3 both are claiming to be the same thing. My google-fu has led me to threads where individuals have used Synaptic to fix the problem. I do not have this installed, nor can I install it (or anything... and no, I don't have ppa-purge either).Code:Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... My attempts to manually remove '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libebml.so.4' '/var/cache/apt/archives/libebml4_1.3.0-2_amd64.deb' or purge any of the aforementioned packages also have no impact and lead me back into the circle.Code:Reading package lists...
