No Microphone Input When Jack is Pluged in the Back

As the title sugest I have microphone issues.

First, I have a Dell Optiplex 755. I was running Kubuntu 12.04 without any issues and decided to upgrade to 14.04. I did a clean install that had no problems. I was happy up untill I discovered that my microphone no longer works with Kubuntu 14.04 if I keep it pluged in the back (Line-in jack). If I plug it in the front (Microphone Jack) all works perfectly.

My question is how come I can't have the same behaviour in 14.04 as I do in 12.04. I tried PAVU control and prety much all sugestions posted on the borads with regards to the microphone being somehow muted or turned down but nothing worked.

I reverted back to 12.04 due to this issue.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

    Any sugestions are apreciated.

    Thank you.

Just a small note, I have also started a bug report on Launchpad.
