Troubles With Low Quality VPS...Any Suggestions?

    Hey guys,

I've had a string of bad luck lately with web hosts, and I've been paying for a couple different VPS servers with some companies I found on Webhostingtalk.com. Despite having good reviews, their performance has been pretty lackluster, some of them even perform worse than shared hosting accounts I have

I've checked my speed using a couple different tools (here and here), and I'm right--my sites are loading slowly, at least according to the readouts on these tools.

Any recommendations for a VPS that's quick, reliable and say in the $40 range?

    Thanks in advance!

Ramnode, hosthatch, crissic, vultr - all are within your price range

You'll also want to do some server optimization if you find the above are slow.

    A few other questions:
    amount of visitors?
type of site (wordpress, joomla, etc)?

Don't waste your energy trying to change opinions ... Do your thing, and don't care if they like it.

Thanks for the suggestion. $39.95 for a 2GB SSD VPS is a really good price! I'll have to look into them.

I've had Crissic for budget shared, but never for VPS. Might have to look into that. Thanks!

Ive been very pleased with InterServer, and their scalable pricing for VPS slices.

I've liked Amazon EC2. I also had good experiences with Rackspace.
