    obd-II with usb elm327

    Hi all,
Total newbie with Ubuntu, I would like to use my acer one which has Ubuntu 12.04 on it along with a usb elm327 to scan engine codes. Any one know of any software that is free and easy to install bearing in mind I don't even know how to install software.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Nick

If you consider a smartphone app I recommend Torque Pro.

Torque is an amazing piece of software you don't have to have pro to read codes and ECU Vitals however if you are planing on tuning I have no idea if there is anything for linux cursory search says
    http://tunerstudio.com/index.php/downloads for linux
    Good luck

I second Torque Pro - I have it working on my Android Smart Phone and on my Nook tablet.

A couple years ago when I first got my ELM327, I found a Linux app that worked with the ELM327,
but it was no way as polished as Torque Pro.

By the way, USB connection works for Android >= 3.1. For older versions it's bluetooth only.
