Hello, I have just upgraded my Ubuntu Gnome (64-bits) from 13.10 to 14.04 with a fresh installation from the DVD. My laptop is a Dell Vostro with two Graphic cards, one Intel and the other NVdia:
Code:
$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 630M] (rev a1)
I know about all of the current incompatibility issues with the Nvidia drivers and nvidia-prime for the seamless switch of the VGAs during higher demand of processing power. I decided to have the Nvidia card on all the time, and on 13.10 I could easily do it just by installing the "nvidia-331-updates" or any recent version and it would work without any extra configurations. But on 14.04 I can't manage to make it work like this. When it reboots, the system gets stuck in the logo right when it should start the UI. I am able to switch to a TTY to uninstall the drivers and reboot, which makes the system work normally again. Anyone could give me a clue here of how to make it work? Just Nvidia drivers would make me satisfied, no need for tricks with bumblebee or whatever.
EDIT:
These are the only references to NVIDIA in dmesg
