Upgrading from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 14.04

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently using Ubuntu 13.04 32bit. When Ubuntu 13.10 was released, I read many reviews and decided to wait for 14.04 since I didn't see many differences and I want to wait for a LTS release. However, now when 14.04 is released, I don't know if I can upgrade directly from 13.04 to 14.04. Can I do that without upgrading to 13.10 first?

Also, when I first install Ubuntu (12.10), I didn't know the difference between 32bit and 64bit, so I chose 32 bit while my laptop has 4GB of RAM. Now I want to use a 64bit version. Do I have to newly install Ubuntu? I have 2 servers running under Virtualbox, a lot of configuration that will take very long to reconfig if I reinstall Ubuntu.

    Thanks everyone in advance

Fresh and clean install of 14.04 64bit is recommended.

If you have space on your HDD then install 14.04 to its own and separate partition. You can dual boot 13.04 and 14.04 until you have reconfigured 14.04. By the way, 13.04 has reached its 'end of life'... no more support and security updates.

Okay I see. I know 13.04 is no longer supported, but as I said I want to wait until 14.04 is released. I didn't think about installing 14.04 in a new partition since I'm already having 3 OSes: Windows 7, Arch and Ubuntu. I will try Thanks for replying.
