Installing Chrome OS on multiple machines at once

Hello all, this is my first post on here so hopefully I can get some help. I've just been given the task of converting a large amount of notebook laptops to "Chrome Books". Basically I was asked to install Chrome OS on (I was told around 4000 but I don't think the number will get that high) notebook laptops as a cheap alternative for classroom laptops. Obviously it will take a lifetime and then some to install it on that many machines so I would like to know if there is any programs or any way to do a mass-install through a network. Is it possible? Thanks in advance for the help!

You could try Clonezilla, they would just need to be connected to the network over ethernet.

Have you researched this? I don't know if it will be possible to do what you are asking.
What are the specs of the notebook laptops? What OS are they currently running?
If the question is related to cost or security, you might think of using Linux.

First off, Chrome OS by google is not available for installation. It's based on Chromium OS and designed specifically for chromebooks and chromeboxes, it's not released as an OS for installation.

Are you refering to Chromium OS? One can make a built, I know the most populars available to all are that of Hexxeh (http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/)

The problem with using this as a main OS is that there is no flash, mp3 and pdf supported. That's why I never used Chromium OS though I would like to.

Lubuntu or Peppermint OS are probably what's closer to what you are looking for. Simple and lightweight operating systems that works great for cloud computing.
