    touch ubuntu?

I honestly haven't been paying attention to anything "new" other than the releases of "normal" Ubuntu for a while. I came across a post today that mentioned Touch Ubuntu, so I did a search on the net for it.

Is it still in testing or is it actually released now? Are there hardware restrictions? I used to have a nice Nexus 7, 32gb, etc., that unfortunately could not stand up to the force of a 300 pund man's knee falling onto the screen when it (and he) fell to the floor. My only option at the time was to get a Toshiba Excite 7. Will Touch run on it? Is there a way to dual-boot, such as the way some of the XDA stuff works?

    Thanks for your time!

Thread moved to Mobile Technology Discussions.

    I would suggest browsing https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/

Here is somewhere else to browse.

    http://insights.ubuntu.com/

Keep in mind that official development is and has always been directed towards Ubuntu being pre-installed on retail mobile devices. First, smartphones followed by tablets then by the convergence of the Ubuntu mobile code base with the Ubuntu desktop code base and then TVs.

Official development is not directed towards making Ubuntu installable on every and any mobile device that is out there. That is an option open to community developers and is officially welcomed and approved because Ubuntu is open source.

See this interview with Mark Shuttleworth.

    Re: touch ubuntu?

Is there a way for a person with no experience at doing so to try to help in someway? I wouldn't mind trying to get it on my Toshiba tablet, but I might want to start with something a little less expensive to do that type of "playing".
