Skype keeps on crashing on 13.10 64 bit

I have skype installed and working sometimes. it just crashes during a video call or sometimes when you chat while having a video call
There is not a specific scenario to pin point but it just crashes and have to force kill the application.
Sound, mice and vice all work well during skype call till it crashes.

I have a few laptops that do the same with 12.04 but work great on 14.04. I can not recommend 14.04 as of yet as it will not be released till April.

to troubleshoot this i have a few suggestions:
    1. check the system logs with log viewer. see if any errors are written there.
    2. run skype from terminal. upon crash you should get some error output in it - can be used for further troubleshooting.
    3. Skype linux forum has some knowledgabe people though you migth wait a while for response.
    4. since you said during video i would also check video drivers make sure everything is configured correctly.

no i haven't had any crashes myself on 13.10, Kubuntu 64bit, however i did notice that my dad's PC occasionally crashes skype, but i belive he is still on 13.04 unless he finnally clicked the upgrade button.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla
