    Ubuntu on a USB stick?

Is it possible to have a portable install of Ubuntu on a USB stick, where I can just plug the stick into any computer and reboot?

I put Ubuntu on a 2 G USB and I used the Start up disk Creator to do it. I down loaded the ISO image and then ran that Start up Disk Creator so I will always have an emergency copy of the Operating system to have anywhere go.

Yes, and you can make it many ways. An Ubuntu install USB pendrive is one example. You can make it persistent with the Startup Disk Creator or Unetbootin. And you can make an installed system (just like an installed system in an internal disk).

See this link for more information https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...n/FromUSBStick

You can make such systems 'directly' with the One Button Installer from tarballs, that are images of installed systems.
