Will Ubuntu run on these HP computers ?

Considering replacing my desktop which currently run Ubuntu. HP state Windows 8 as the OS. Will Ubuntu run on the following HP computers:

all in one should work. the A-4 AMD APU is supported and proprietary drivers are available for it.
i can't say about the camera. it doens't say what chip it is using.

in general things that have issues on laptops:
possible SSD disks (but only some)
wi-fi chips (some are wlel supported, others are not at all)
camera
backlight,
touchpad
Hybrid GPU

your selection uses:
hybrid GPU Nvidia+ intel - this is probably optimus. it works in some versions using bumblebee and doing manual switch between the GPUs, but is not official supported by nvidia.

they have nomal disk drive, camera&audio - mine works but might not be the same as your and same goes for wi.fi if it's atheros chances are it works out of the box

touchpad is likely synaptics and they work.

it's hard to say. unless someone already installed it to this computer.

if you have a chance then try it out using live OS.

HP business models are quite compatible. while these consumer ones ... well it depends. my little netbook has evrythign wokring out of the box.

btw did you check the ubuntu certification pages for this laptop? though it might not be there if it's a newer model

Just a point, you have a link to one US model and two links to Australian models. I am in Australia, owned an HP at one point, so be aware that not all models are available everywhere.

Unless you are in Australia I would check that whatever model you are looking at is readily available where you are. If a model is exclusively made for Australia (or Asia, or the US or UK) it is NOT as easy as just ordering that model and HP will happily accomodate. They will not sell it to you generally. You can only buy the ones for your region for many, and many obvious, reasons.

If you do buy from overseas, by whatever means, be totally certain there is an international warranty on the unit that covers YOUR country. International warranties are sometimes not what they seem.
