To compile:
Go to
http://packages.debian.org/sid/xserver-xorg-video-nv
Download the three source files and place them in a new folder (*the name of which should have no spaces*).
Open a terminal in that folder and run
dpkg-source -x *.dsc
That will create a new folder called xserver-xorg-video-nv-2.1.20
In that folder open the file debian/control
Change the line
Architecture: kfreebsd-any hurd-any
to
Architecture: any
Save the file.
Open a terminal in the xserver-xorg-video-nv-2.1.20 folder
Run the commands
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential fakeroot dpkg-dev debhelper pkg-config xserver-xorg-dev x11proto-video-dev x11proto-core-dev x11proto-fonts-dev x11proto-randr-dev x11proto-render-dev x11proto-xext-dev dpkg-dev automake libtool xutils-dev libdrm-dev x11proto-xf86dri-dev quilt
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b -uc
To install:
cd ..
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
p.s. have you seen
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...8#post12336938 ?
Also, I'm not entirely sure how useful nv will be in very recent versions of *ubuntu. You may find 12.04 is the better option and just compile any updates (e.g. pcmanfm) yourself.
