No. You have to pay for it. It's a good investment! Plz though if you want to get any of the ut series go and buy a copy! These guys put alot of hard work into developing these games and for one like this that has support for linux it seems only right.

Also RO went in another direction so you will have to buy the new version of the game. Not really worth it though since I've heard that there are very few servers and I think it comes from "Steam" no boxed set but I've heard that game retailers will have it soon.

The final version of RO that is free is 3.3 (I'm pretty sure)

Search: red orchestra 3.3 zip final in google will bring some results.

It should be about a 700 MB download.

I really didn't like RO all that much. One that I play that I did like that had a real feel to it was SAS. And lets not forget http://www.to-crossfire.net/

Re: looking for good free fps

Thanks for the info dude. It cleared stuff up! (i was confused about ut2004) but honestly, I'm not the kinda person to pay for my games I'm just too poor/tight

TO:C looks good, although again, it requires the purchase of ut2004

So I have two options: live with TCE or earn some money

Thanks for the suggestions and help anyway, appreciate it

Something like battlefield two but TCE-style realism Any ideas anyone?

    Hi,

I still didnt have time to try TC:E unfortunately.
Concerning teh comparison with battlefield two, can you like in battlefield two make use of tanks and other kind of vehicles & weapons ?
Battlefield two quite nice for that & very realistic.

Ok, there are tons of free fps that are multiplayer, but why aren't there any good ones that have a singleplayer mode? I don't always want to play online. People get too crazy. I would rather play singleplayer and not worry about if I'm making someone else mad when I'm just trying to learn how a new game works. Besides, multiplayer games are all the same with a different backdrop. Sometimes I want a fps that at least has some type of story to it.

I dont know about everyone else but I love Americas Army. Its similar to bf2 (sorta) so yeah. I like it more than bf2 personally. Its free to download just google "americas army linux" and it should be the top 5 searches or so.

I've never played AA but often hear people complaining about how rubbish it is, and how they much prefer TCE to AA so *shrug*

Plus, I'm quite an anti-America kind of person so playing AA would be hypocritical. I'd rather play Special Force (Hizbullah's FPS game)

Yes, in battlefield two you can control tanks and stuff...
