The first time I login to gnome it takes a long time and when it finally logs in I have a blue background image and default icons. If I click on nautilus the desktop background changes to the one I chose. But I still have the default icons. But when I logout and back in I automatically get the correct icons and background and it logs in much faster. I have no idea why.

I'm running ubuntu 12.04 w/ lightdm greeter, unity, cinnamon, gnome, kde, and some light weight window manager. I guess I'm messing around having that many. Oh, none of my desktops login in quickly. But gnome is the one with the weird problems after login.

I've read many posts and tried to understand what is wrong but no bananas. I have bootchart installed. And I know how to post logs, if anyone knows what to look for, but I really don't know where to start with this.

Thanks for any help.
