can not play any multimedia

hey there please help me...............
i am new user in linux recently i have downlaod crunchbang linux and install it . i have update and upgrade it but media such as mp3 ,vedio ,dvd etc nothing can play its need code where i can get it or what is the codes to play all such thing

You probably need to add some unoffiicial repository to install non free codecs. I am sure that is easy to find out from google or crunchbang's site.

hey there.........thanks a lot for your valuable site but i have done all thing which the site page has ........such as


sudo geany /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-get install deb-multimedia-keyring
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install adacious



but still not found sound.............mp3 is playing but not found sound.........
then i have check my speaker all things are ok but when playing a mp3 track not found sound why.........
is my sound card not installed ?????
i can not see the sound icon right side of my monitor........is this problem??????????
