installing compiz corrupted desktop - how to bring it back?

I'm running xubuntu 13.10 64 bit.

yesterday I installed compiz for some of the features. after reboot the whole window manager is gone!! I had a feeling that compiz would cause trouble so I pulled up the teminal and removed all the compiz packages. now after reboot the desktop is still not back to the regular xfce desktop. I can't do anything with it.

Compiz is too untable... I will reinstall xubuntu.

After you reinstall, take a look at compton.
