    System Crashed Now Can't Boot

Hey all. I'm a complete novice so please forgive me. I'm using a crappy old HP DVsome odd laptop and have xubuntu 11.04 running on it. Only one that seems to work properly. Anyway I was just watching some KOH and it froze then a black screen popped up. I can't quite remember the message something like text mode? My decision was just hold the power button to get rid of this mess. When i try to boot up now it makes me select either regular or recovery mode (I have no partitions) if I choose regular boot it takes me to a black screen with a blinking cursor and nothing happens. I put the disk and clicked "try xubuntu" and it recognizes my HDD with all my files. Help? Thanks

    Hi, welcome to the fora.

I wouldn't recommend troubleshooting 11.04. Better to rescue your files through a live boot and after that do a fresh install of for example Lubuntu.

Don't use this space for a list of your hardware. It only creates false hits in the search engines.
