Both ethernet and wireless not working

    Dear all,

I am aware there are a few threads with similar problems, but I haven't found a solution in there.
I just installed ubuntu (Dual boot with Windows) in a Dell laptop (Studio 1535) and both the ethernet and wireless are unable to connect.

The wireless is activated but it does not find any of the available wireless networks.
The ethernet tries to connect, but disconnects before completing the connexion.

The ethernet and network controllers are the following:

    Code:

I would be very thankful if someone could give me a hint on how to solve this issue.

Download this file and save it in "Downloads":

    http://media.cdn.ubuntu-de.org/forum...irmware.tar.gz

    Installation via

    Code:
    sudo tar xvf ~/Downloads/2480236-Broadcom_Firmware.tar.gz -C /lib/firmware/
    Check then
    Code:
    cat /etc/resolv.conf
    route -n
    lsmod
    ifconfig -a

Re: Both ethernet and wireless not working

Hi! thanks for the advices. However, it seems it does not solve the problem.

The output of cat /etc/resolv.conf is:

    Code:

The output of introducing route -n is:

    Code:
    Kernel IP routing table

    The output of lsmod is:

Re: Both ethernet and wireless not working

    There are no nameservers listed:
    Code:
    echo -e "nameserver 8.8.8.8\nnameserver 8.8.4.4" | sudo tee -a /etc/resolv.conf
    sudo service network-manager restart
LAN should work now. For wireless install the firmware:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
