Laptop doesn't suspend when lid is closed, or suspend button is pressed

So I'm running Ubuntu Gnome. 13.04 to be exact, on a Samsung touch screen ultra book. Can't seem to find anything on the forums about the issue after a quick search, so I'm hoping some one has a little insight into the problem. Basically my problem is just the topic, the laptop is set to suspend when the lid closes, but it doesn't. Every time I want to suspend I have to use a terminal command to do so. Also when I click the power button in the corner and press suspend, nothing happens.

    Please advise.

Bump. There must be some information out there concerning the power manager. When I bring up the gnome-tweak-tool there options there for this, as there are in the power manager. None of these, however, seem to actually have any effect when I close the lid.
