How to open Windows 7 in Ubuntu 12.04 with virtualbox ?

Hello everyone.
Im new in this forum and interested in ubuntu or open source OS. Can I open windows 7 in Ubuntu using VirtualBox?
sorry if this post in wrong section. but if have method how to do it, can evryone help me.

I think you need to do some research on virtualisation. You install the Windows OS inside Ubuntu as a virtual machine. So in a roundabout way, yes, when installed as a virtual machine you can open Windows as use it as per normal. You need a good amount of RAM and decent processor to run virtual machines, though.

Install Virtualbox (it's in Software Centre), launch it then insert your Win CD and install it as a virtual machine. Fairly straightforward I believe (I've played around with it but never gone as far as installing the VM).

If you're asking can you point VB to your existing Win7 install on the same PC and run that inside the VB? The answer is no.

Also, when you reinstall Win7 inside VB, that is a NEW installation, meaning, you will have to install all the apps you want to use, and do LOTS of Windows updates to get it current for Win7.
