Ubunu 12.04 LTS will not boot. Needs file ????

    1. have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS dual booted over Windows 7 using standard Ubuntu installation. It's worked great for years.
    2. Had a hard drive problem that effected both op systems and ran Spinright program. It fixed windows but when I try to get into Ubuntu I get the following message:

    mount: mounting /dev/disk/by-uuid/b9f1a1d5-864b-44f7-8714-57ee4ab97910 on /root
    failed: Invalid argument
mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= bootarg.

    BusyBox v1.18.5 (Ubuntu 1:1.18.5-1ubuntu4.1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

    (initramfs) _

    • I entered help but couldn't make any sense of what they were talking about.
    • Any advise on how to provide the file it seems to be asking for?
    • I've already re-installed the dual-boot system on a new hard drive. So, all I need is to be able to copy some documents & pictures from the broken ubuntu so I can paste them into the new installation.

    Much thanks for any advise.
