Screen truns blank after fullscreen

I've got some issues

after watching a video on youtube (or jwplayer) on fullscreen I have to pause the video to possibly avoid getting a blank screen, usually after that happens I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 and log in and input the command

unity restart

and then after pressing Ctrl + Alt + F7 evrything gets back to normal, but I would rather like to Press ESC and listen to the ending music in the background after watching a movie/video, so I am asking if it's possible to arrange that?

Do you have your power settings configured to suspend when inactive for a period of time? If so go to system settings>power then chose don't suspend .

No, I don't and I don't see how that might be related to my problem?

In the past I have had Ubuntu go to suspend while a flash app was runnung (video). Guess what happens? black screen and system freeze.

I don't suspend my pc ever. I've updated the kernel, thinking it might help, but...no, still the same, and I've encountered another thing: my mic isn't responding, on windows it's working just fine, but on ubuntu it is useless... my system is falling apart and I don't know what to do
