    DVD and Blu-ray on Ubuntu

I used this tutorial to get VLC Player to play DVDs and Blu-rays. But unfortunately it didnt work. I tried Region 1 and 2 DVDs and Region 1 and 2 Blu-rays.

Since my PS3 only plays Region 2 Blu-rays I really need the function to play Region 1 Blu-ray discs. Playing Region 2 Discs and Region 1 and 2 DVDs would be great cause sometimes I want to watch TVseries in bed.

Is there another way to get VLC to play these mediums or another player I can use?

You could Rip the files from your BluRay and DVD discs into MKV files then play these using VLC.

Whoops. The link that I posted in my previous reply is the same as your original post.

I personally use XBMC for playing movies and music. It won't play a bluray disk in it's entirety but it will play the largest file on the disk which is usually the main movie.
