running mp4 cbt on ubuntu VS XP

I got computer based training files for Lipic 101 and lipic 102. They are all mpg4 files. they all play fine on ubuntu with movie player. However when I take them to work and there have XP with apple quicktime player , only lipic 101 plays ok. It will not play the lipic 102 file set. Says it does not recognise the format. Anybody know whats going on with this problem?

In Ubuntu, open the file manager and then go to the where the files are and right click one and go to properties, then click on audio/video tab.
Look at what the codecs say.
Then compare the other files as well.
    Are any different?

Don't mind me, I'm only passing through.

The lipic 101 set has codec=H.264/AVC
The lipic 102 set has codec =H.264

I guess that difference is causing the problem and I am stuck with it. I have to have admin rights(which I don't have) to install anything. And thats because they don't want us to install anything. I can't even load VLC player.
Thanks for the insight to the issue.

If you want to play those files in Win XP(with out admin ) then follow the link and download the portable version of software

    http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable

    http://portableapps.com/apps/music_v...layer_portable

You can use any portable software with out admin rights. I had done this before.

I was able to install vlc portable onto a flash drive at work and it is playing my lipic 102 set of files like a champ!
Thank you very much for pointing me in right direction!
