    RipperX, MP3, Gstreamer plugins...

Am a little confused here. Have been merrily playing my library of MP3/FLAC/WMA files in Amarok in a fairly freshly installed 13.10 x64 without a problem. Went out and got a new CD, and decided to install RipperX, as I have used it many times before, ripped the CD at 192KB (variable), and when trying to play (in pretty well any app, I believe) I get a message: "Install extra Multimedia plugins? Amarok requires to install plugins...... Multiple Gstreamer extra plugins (i386..) - as per attachment.
Try to install and get Package dependency probs...
Can anybody help me clear this up?

    Hello,

a lot of the plugins are in the multiverse or universe repositories. Do you have them enabled ?
You probably need to install ubuntu-restricted-extras in multiverse.

    | Reinstalling Ubuntu ? Please check this bug first ! |
    | Using a ppa ? Please install ppa-purge from universe, you may need it should you want to revert packages back |

Yep, restricted-extras installed (always first thing I do), multiverse and universe enabled...

Not sure what the answer is, but as an experiment, try ripping the same CD using another ripper, Asunder for eg, & see if Amarok asks for the same plugins.
Also try playing the same songs in a Gnome native player like Rhythmbox & see what happens.

edit. You could also drop one of the tracks in say Dropbox, & post the link here, to see if others have the same problem with the same track.

Tried playing in Rhythmbox & Mplayer, and wouldn't play - similar prob.
Ended up ripping using RipperX in opensuse, with identical settings - worked fine.
Sorry, have deleted files - if I get the chance will try ripping again and post a copy...
    Thanks.

I prefer Audex ripper, especially in KDE environment where the most of the dependencies are already installed.
