Question Problems with Suspend After 13.10 Upgrade (Gnome)

My computer is not suspending since I upgraded to 13.10. I see a Gnome notification at the bottom of my screen telling me that my computer is about to suspend due to lack of activity, but it just remains on. Where is the suspend behavior defined and where can I see log files detailing what happens when my computer tries to suspend?

The suspend log file is located at /var/log/pm-suspend.log.

    Can you suspend manually via:
    Code:
    sudo pm-suspend
    ...and resume successfully?

I was able to suspend with the command that you provided, but there was an error on resume. Prior to posting this topic, I ran
    Code:
    sudo pm-hibernate
    which executed and resumed properly.

Can you post back the contents of /var/log/pm-suspend.log like this:
    Code:
    pastebinit /var/log/pm-suspend.log
...and post back the link that is generated.

Hey, thanks for the reply and sorry it's taken me so long to get back. That file is actually empty.

Can you post back the results of the following command:
    Code:
    ls -l /var/log

    Ah, yes...look what I found

    Code:
    ls /var/log | grep pm-suspend.log
    pm-suspend.log
    pm-suspend.log.1
    pm-suspend.log.2.gz
    pm-suspend.log.3.gz
    pm-suspend.log.4.gz
    PasteBin

Thanks for the file. I can see from the file that hibernate is working but not suspend, unfortunately, there is nothing there to show why this is happening. Can you run the following command and post back the results:
    Code:
    cat /var/log/syslog | grep PM:
I'd also be interested in seeing the results of these commands:
    Code:
    cat /proc/cmdline
    Code:
    ls -l /etc/pm/config.d/
    Code:
    lspci
    Code:
    lspci -t

Re: Problems with Suspend After 13.10 Upgrade (Gnome)

I think that the problems may be related to changes I made to the following, but I can't remember exactly what I did...

    Code:
    /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.upower.policy
    /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
    Code:
    dan@MyDesktop:~$ cat /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.upower.policy
