Hello all, absolute cherry here, so be kind to a rank 'newbie',,,I have an older pc I have had for yrs. Compaq presario 7360, which is 500mhz, 64mb ram ( will upgrade if all goes well ) 10gb hard drive. and it has a usb port for the flash stick to load it with.. Now for the questions, many I fear. The internet for this will be using a broadband cable. highest rating our provider has, suddenlink.. so which flavor linux?
I am so new to this stuff I dont have any clue in spite of the nice forums and youtube videos explaining "HOW TO LOAD' etc. I saw that Pinguy looked great, but was for better pcs than mine. I should add at this pt, this pc has 10 gb hard drive. All I want this pc for is for internet, email, and maybe possibly viewing shows on television fanatic and youtube. That is it. If the word processor works good for the os then I may use that too. I no longer have a working A drive on any of our computers besides this one. so no dice on using a floppy disk. The cd drives are crap too. So there goes that option, I believe this pc has one, but I think it is broken as well. Dont want to spend money to replace the cd drive on this, or get another one. NO MONEY avail...so, I just want to use the pc for internet if I can get it to load from a USB bootable flash drive stick. If I can load it from my other computer using a usb to usb cable, then I would be ok, as it will be alongside it on the desktop and I will probably be getting a KVM set up to use same keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I am cheap..really so. any ideas sure would be appreciated. Another question of course.....is it really going to be worth all the fuss, kvm expense, etc to do all this if the pc with said specs is only usable to read emails and surf the web, and not view television shows and youtube on it? any help would be great, thanks graybeard19
