    booting from an ISO

    Hi

Due to a screen problem i move to Mint as Unity is on the left hand side of the screen. The reason was i lost the left hand side of the screen and couldn't see the Unity icons etc.

However i don't like Mint and i want to get back to Ubuntu and i need your help. I have made an iso on my desktop but i have no H/drive on my laptop and try as i may i can't get the usb device to install from. I have an ISO on my desktop how can i install from an ISO without a USB and H/drive?

    Thanks

    Peterfc

Re: help needed booting from an ISO

New systems will boot from USB flash drives. But often will not show a bootable entry in UEFI/BIOS unless correctly installed to flash drive. Also some like my system will not show any USB bootable devices, but under hard drives is a choice for a boot able flash drive. So also check under hard drives if that opens up for extra entries.

If you are booting from grub2 and have extra partitions, you can use grub2 to directly boot an ISO. Beyond that you would have to do network install, or remove hard drive and use another system to install.
