Ask Ubuntu Website concerns

Hi,

I wonder if I could ask for some community views on this one?

Ubuntu seems to gently push users to ask questions on the Ask Ubuntu site. Having used it I have found that there seems to be a quite few users who appear to over do the marking down of questions, and replies.

I fully appreciate the need to check if question has been asked before, and make sure the question is relevant and detailed etc. but the amount of mark downs and negative comments added to questions certainly puts me of using it.

My view of the Ubuntu community has always been of a friendly and supportive one

Am I being over sensitive, or have other users had the same feelings?

Any observations would be most welcome.

Yes, that is how it works over there. The mods even back them up. I got muted for asking a question again when those persons closed my first question.

After a heated discussion with the mod, that lead to a discussion with the admin, they finally removed the mute.

Be aware these forums have no connection with Ask Ubuntu and you might want to Ask Ubuntu to verify any issue with their forums.

Fortunately, there is a multitude of routes for getting help with Ubuntu, if you don't care for one, don't use it.

I was afraid to ask the question on the Ask Ubuntu site for fear of getting more mark downs! This was the point I was try to make about the 'fear' of asking questions.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with discussing this here - there'll be different points of view - just as there is with those who prefer AU to other forums of support.

What isn't appropriate is if it turns into some sort of anti AU thread.
