I'm pretty sure you could run Ubuntu 13.04 with the 32-bit flavor. You might want to double-check though.

However, I suspect that Xubuntu or Lubuntu would run much faster on that hardware than Ubuntu and unity, but try them live and make up your own mind, not forgetting that a live system runs much slower than an installed OS.
