firefox being slow

just installed ubuntu 13.04 . installed flash with : sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer
Flash plugin is rather slow
videos are laggy . also while flash is running firefox apparently becomes slower , sometimes stays randomly slow after

not a real fix
Also , firefox is slow downloading files . even small ones
any idea how to improve that ?

Disable all add-ons and try it. Also install another browser and try it, could be a system problem. Like maybe low ram.

not many add ons , and my ram is ok ..
after some trials i found out video speed varies from one link to other . its just a little slower than firefox on windows7 in general . but i can live with it . i might try another browser for comparaison .

Check Tools->Addons->Extensions. A lot of FF issues come from poorly written extensions. You can disabled them in this screen one by one to find the offender. As for Flash, it's notoriously slolw and buggy. I refuse to use it. You should first do this: select Help->RestartWithAdd-onsDisabled. If there is no speed improvement, look for problems elsewhere--cache that needs clearing, low RAM, etc.

again i have very few add ons . the only i have installed is autofill forms , which i need .
the rest is a couple of ubuntu add ons that i could dispose - but i figured maybe system needs them:
ubuntu firefox modifications, ubuntu online accounts, unity desktop integration , unity websites integration .

as for Flash , what is your replacement for it ? i didnt think there was any .
