    code tags in quick reply

is it possible to have code button available in quick reply mode?
Yes, there is that advanced mode but it's an overkill in most cases and despite having the thread contents the teleporting it does kind of breaks the context.
I post a lot of code snippets and it gets somewhat tiring to wrap everything with code tags by hand.
Also many nooblets have trouble figuring out how to post clean outputs inside code tags, use clearly visible quote button instead and have to be instructed how to achieve desirable effect.

if your question is answered, mark the thread as [SOLVED]. Thx.
To post code or command output, use [code] tags.

Can't find the last answer to this question - but there are no plans at present to look at that again.

If you use firefox you might like to look at bbcodextra - I use that addon for more or less exactly
lot of code snippets and it gets somewhat tiring

Yep, I asked the same question quite some time ago. That might give a clue finding the other thread, if it was mine you're thinking of. I got the same reply from memory.

If you are adding lots of code snippets, why not just use the advanced editor?

quick reply is right below, advanced mode has like a whole screen of nothing of substrance you have to scroll through before reaching the thread contents, back and forth if you need to check something multiple times and i don't like the inverse order.

Code/output is pretty much the most frequently pasted content on these forums, it should be easily accessible. Don't tell me there is a great usability in having fonts/sizes/colors/emotes conveniently placed right there in quick reply, but not [code] given the context of the forum.

Re: code tags in quick reply

We are using the default vBulletin settings that do not allow for adding the code tags option to the quick reply, and there is no way to add it without adding a lot more functionality that none of us want, via an add-on.

Re: code tags in quick reply

Here's the workaround that I use, and it solves the problem for me. I simply use the "quote" button instead, then manually edit the QUOTE string in both the start and end commands to be CODE. Much quicker than trying to position the cursor exactly since I can just double-click the opening QUOTE, type CODE, double-click it again, hit ctrl-C, go to the closing string, double-click, and paste...

Probably the one in this thread : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2167345

I've pretty much developed a habit of manually typing the code tags, sometimes even in the advanced mode ! Haven't try bbcodextra yet. But it's too bad the VBulletin developers ignored such a nice and somewhat essential button.

Same here. I find it easier than hunting for a button.
