    Edit the resolv.conf file

I am trying to set up a vpn and need to edit the resolv.conf file. However, when I open it in Gedit, the comment are as follows: "# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
    # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN". If I make changes and add a nameserver, it will not stay as it is overwritten after I save the file. How do I edit this file and keep the changes?

You can add them to /etc/network/interfaces
