Curious why Firefox is slow (sometimes painfully slow) in Windows XP but runs great in Ubuntu? I've read the exact opposite when I did a google search so maybe I'm fortunate? Either way I wonder why this could be?

You could possibly tweak the settings in Firefox to improve the speed.
Here is one site I would suggest, but then again, there are hundreds out there.
