Recently I installed Ubuntu 13.04 on a Lenovo Ideapad N585, and I'm having some weird issues. This isn't my main machine, but at least three times a day it will kernal panic and show this black terminal like screen with lots of error messages I can't decipher. Other times the screen will glitch out and look really messed up, like something is wrong with a graphics driver. The rest of the time the computer works fine.

My question is, is this a hardware or software problem? And if it's a software problem, should I try reinstalling Ubuntu 13.04 or try a different distro? This computer isn't particularly fast, so maybe a lighter distro would help make it feel a little faster?
