    yeah i think i totally corrupt both drives while wiping a partition of my hdd managed to recover some of the data but the drives are useless now never mind

    What you can try is wiping the first megabyte with dd, Ubuntu Forums tutorial "Howto make USB boot drives"
    and then try to make a partition table and file systems with gparted.
