internet connection via crossover cable

Hello,

I am trying to gain internet access on a computer that does not have wifi from one that does. Currently they are linked through a crossover cable.
Both machines have Xubuntu 13.04. So far i the computer that needs access shows a wired connection but there is no internet access.
Eventually i need to install windows 2008 on the this computer, if this makes any difference. A simple to understand tutorial would be very helpfull.
