Living in a consumer culture I can't help but look down at my fantastic Nexus 4 phone and wonder, will a newer model be "better." I know the answer to the question is, no, at least for a few years. But, advertising does make me want something new and shiny.

Anyways, with the desire for something new in mind, I thought why not try another OS on my phone? I tried one of those look-a-like iPhone layout apps, it was garish and I quickly deleted it. Having heard about Ubuntu's Touch OS, I was curious if it would be a viable alternative. I know that I do own one of the few fully supported phones for the switch, but I haven't rooted my phone or touched anything inside, I'm nervous about bricking it.

I guess, what I'm trying to ask is, are there any reviews from the people that have made the switch? Was the process, relatively, painless? Is the OS a contender?
