    Pinguy - Problem with speakers

Hello everyone, long time no see!

I'll cut to the chase, I bought a new laptop (ASUS K55VM-SX091), I have a problem with speakers that I'm trying to plug in, the built in speakers work just fine, but I'm not getting any sound from the "external" ones.

    Any suggestions?

Do these speakers have there own power supply or do they draw off the computer's power?

Re: Pinguy - Problem with speakers

The reason I asked was I had some external speaker that needed to use the laptop power and the sound was not good.
Is it the quality of the speakers or the volume?
You could check the setting on your sound card, but if it sound good on the built in speakers it should sound good on the external ones also.

It seems I hadn't clarified enough what's the problem, I'm not getting any sound from external speakrs.

Thanks, I'll try messing up with settings a bit, see what will come out of the bush.

    EDIT: Found a solution!

I restarted the laptop, logged in again, Sound Settings > Output > Connector : Speakers. Then I did an update, restarted again and all seems to work perfectly now.

Thank you for your help, appreciate it!

I found that when I am using the internal speakers and have sound and then plug in earphones I sometimes loose my sound. All I have to do is go to the sound icon in the top panel and turn the sound back on. For some reason it shuts off.
