Can't change brightness with fn keys

Hello everyone, I am using an Acer Aspire One D270 netbook with Lubutntu 13.04. My problem is that I can't seem to change the brightness with my netbook's fn keys. I did a little bit of research and found out how change it with terminal commands but it isn't very convenient. Can someone help me get my fn keys working again or possible have a little shortcut in my taskbar to I can change the brightness almost like a volume slider? On a little side note, would anyone recommend using tux on ice for hibernation? Hibernation does not work for me and i'm not sure how to fix it and tux on ice seemed like an alternative. Thanks for all the help!

Re: Can't change brightness with fn keys

    Hi,
I'm somewhat new to using laptops myself, so I haven't needed to correct problems like Fn keys yet.
Did you double check to see if you have chosen the correct keyboard layout? Go to menu > preferences > keyboard and mouse > keyboard > lxkeymap to check and install additional layouts if neccessary.

I found this quick fix for Fn key brightness: http://nikunjlahoti.com/2012/04/29/u...ightness-keys/
I cant say whether or not it will help but most of the commenters were happy with the results. There are instructions for 13.04 too.

I believe Ubuntu (and other linux distributions) have disabled Hibernation because of problems of not being able to resume properly (or resume at all). Suspend to ram should still work fine though. I've tried enabling hybernation on my laptop but it doesn't work for me. Be sure to test hybernation numerous times like it says in the following link before permantly enabling it. http://askubuntu.com/questions/94754...le-hibernation

    I can't comment on tux-on-ice because I haven't tried it personally.
