Ubuntu One toggles itself back on, I want it off?

I do not use Ubuntu One.
There is a cloud icon at the top of my screen for Ubuntu One.
The first line contains an On/Off toggle switch.
Many times I have toggled this to Off.
It toggles itself back to On.

Question: Can I uninstall Ubuntu One or is it a required component?

    More info
    a. The wifi also turns itself on.
    b. After a powered off boot up, and then a restart for security reasons, Ubuntu crashed. Nothing open. No activity.
    c. Bluefish html editor crashes pretty much everyday. Requires application restart.
    d. two strange web based domain processing errors with Firefox browser on web page. Page form post was wired to domain A, but post went to domain B. WTF? NSA?

Open up the software center and run a search for Ubuntu one.
There should be a listing for it(or two or three).
    Then simply remove it(them)

    See if that works.

THANK YOU deadflowr. I'll see if that works ... I unstalled the music component. There were no others.

I uninstalled the Ubuntu One component (only 1 item was indicated as installed)
    I rebooted the workstation.
Ubuntu One icon re-appears. Status is toggled to "on".

    What next?

Re: Ubuntu One toggles itself back on, I want it off?

I uninstalled "Indicator for synchronisation processes status". I powered down. I powered up. No sign of the Ubuntu One menu. I restarted again for good measure. No sign of the Ubuntu One menu.

Given the quantity and quality of the cyber security attacks in the last half year, I feel it may be premature to mark this thread as closed. So, while for now the current miscreant indiscretion is possibly resolved, I shall wait and see ...

If your worried about security then I'd suggest a little light reading

read through the various stickies here
    http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=338

Also, it would be safe to assume you've disable/turned off online searches in the system settings > privacy section.

deadflowr your intuitive presumption is correct. I had previously turned OFF "online searches in the system settings > privacy section."

However, being a linux newbie, your "light reading" link is MOST welcome and shall be read and hopefully implemented - religiously.

Re: Ubuntu One toggles itself back on, I want it off? - I visited Europe today!

Assertion is one thing, and Proof is another. Here is the proof - just one example of redirection:

    I visited Europe today

Here is the proof my traffic is routed thru europe:

    Host Trace

    YouGetSignal.com to remote address

    It's all in North America

    Proxy Trace

    My computer > YouGetSignal.com > Remote Address
They send me to Europe and back
I live on Vancouver Island on the West Coast of North America!
