philips gogear SA018302kn/02; installing drivers; ubuntu 12.04

I accidentally formated my philips gogear mp3 player (model: sa018302kn/02).

The chipset ID for the philips gogear is 0471:20c7.

I went to the philips site, downloaded the device manager.

I ran device manager with WINE but it will not recognize the device.

I also copied firmware files from the device manager and pasted them
on the gogear.

When I unplug gogear from computer the LED still flashes: green, red, red, green.
Meaning that software is missing. (according the user's manual)

I have been searching for another Windows emulator. But maybe that is not the problem.

Hi, im considering buying one of these for one of the kids christmas presents. Did you get it to work with Ubuntu? Doesn't the device mount with rhythmbox or banshee or appear as a removable drive so you can drag and drop files to it?

Hi, I apologize for the late reply.

I have been busy for the holiday stuff.

This model works or worked great with the ubuntu version I have (12.04).

No problem, whatsoever.

Even when going to and from rythmbox.

was able to reinstall firmware via windows system. please close this thread as solved.
